I’m going through a proper bronze/ gold phase at the moment when it comes to eyeshadow. I just seem to be gravitating towards these shades on an almost daily basis. They just seem so appropriate at this time of year and I suspect I’ll still be craving them when the party season rocks up in a couple of months time. Here are some of my current favourites.
MAC Woodwinked – This has almost a peachy tone to it and I have heard some people with cooler skin tones saying that it pulls orange on them. On my though (neutral undertones) it’s a gorgeous burnished gold.
MUA Heaven & Earth Palette (third shade from left of top row) – This is a little more yellow toned than Woodwinked. The texture is very comparable though and it is excellent quality, especially considering that the palette is only £3!).
Urban Decay Twice Baked – This is found in the Naked Palette although I suspect it probably crops up in other Urban Decay palettes too. This is probably my favourite true gold. It’s bright, clean and fairly neutral in tone. The formula is perfect as well.
Urban Decay Oraculum – This is in the Alice in Wonderland palette although I believe it appears in others under the name Baked. This is more of a coppery shade with a very strong orange tone. I love this on the lid with black in the crease for a Halloween vibe.
Barry M Dazzle Dust 24 Old Gold – This is a much cooler, dirtier shade. Whereas the others are smooth and shimmery this is more glittery. You can see in the swatch picture that my camera just couldn’t make sense of it. These are best used with sticky bases but the effect is very beautiful when on.
Swatch from left to right Woodwinked, MUA, Twice Baked, Oraculum, Old Gold.
What shades are you loving at the moment? Do you have any favourite gold shadows that you think I need to get my mitts on?
*All of these were bought by me*

I love the look of all of them, and you just got me inspired to start using my UD half baked as I hardly use that one, don't know why coz it's gorgeous! Thanks for the swatches. xo
ReplyDeleteI love Barry M old gold. I love the gold shades in the Sleek Storm palettes too. Oh and 'X' by Urban Decay. And Inglot Shine 49. For a cool toned girl, I seem to own a lot of gold shadows! I seem to like the same type of shades as you.
ReplyDeleteLove them all specially Urban Decay Twice Baked
ReplyDeleteGood timing, I'm wearing Oraculum at the moment! I was concerned that it was a bit too orange for me when I first put it on but I love it, though it isn't super eye-catching on me. It applies so easily. When UD get it right they get it perfect, it seems. I also like UD Half Baked, which is a bit brighter, but my favourite gold is from Aromaleigh, Party Dress, it's so bright and lovely.
ReplyDeleteI love MAC Amber Lights a lot. It shows up a lot more gold on me than Woodwinked. And MAC Patina for a brown with gold sheen look.
ReplyDeleteLove these colours, you would also love Barry M Bronze if you haven't tried it, its gorgeous :)
ReplyDeleteGlad it's got you inspired Makeupandmacaroons!
ReplyDeleteNo reason why cool toned girls can't rock a bit of gold Demonicsmurfette, I totally forgot about the golds in Storm. I love them too!
I think Twice Baked is probably one of my most reached for Beauty Shades.
I think you're right Julianne, when UD get it right it's wonderful but when they get it glittery.... let's just say I'm not a fan of their glittery shades! I'm off to google Party Dress swatches now!
Patina is one of those shadows I've had on my wish list for a while now Chester. It's only a matter of time before I cave I think.
I haven't tried Bronze yet Rachel.D but I will make a point of swatching it next time I'm out shopping. Thanks for the tip!
