Make Up Forever High Definition Foundation

I might be the last person on Earth to try this. This is simply because MUF is a pain in the bum to get in the UK. You can get it online (I think for around £27) but I’m loathe to buy foundations without getting colour matched first. Thankfully my makeup knight in shining armour Tracy from Beauty Reflections came to my rescue! She had a bottle in shade #117 lying around unloved and was kind enough to send it my way. Thanks Tracy!

The packaging is nice heavy weight plastic. It doesn’t feel cheap but it’s more travel friendly than a glass bottle would be. It has a pump (always a win for me). The only thing that I find a bit strange is that the level never seems to go down. I wonder if the foundation just never runs down the side or if the inside of the bottle is tinted. I have no way of knowing how much is left!

The shade #117 is a great match for my super pale skin. It leans slightly pink toned but not overly so. It sits very nicely on my more neutral skin. The coverage is definitely on the higher side of medium and I don’t need much in the way of concealer when I wear this. It dries down to a satin matte finish, I only really need to powder on my t-zone.

This does last pretty well on me. Obviously I still need to blot and powder throughout the day but I need to do that with every foundation. This does get a little glowy on my nose but it doesn’t disintegrate like some foundations do.

It’s strange as I’ve heard a few reviews from those with combination skin who didn’t get on with this but I actually really like it. It isn’t as super matte as the MUF Mat Velvet + Which Tracy also sent me but it still very flattering on my skin type. I’ve been using this a lot for work and now that I know my shade I will be very tempted to repurchase in future! X

(Thanks again Tracy!)

    1. I think I mainly get the impression that all the US you tube/ blogging crowd tried this a couple of years ago when it came out. Glad I've tried it now! x

  3. This is arguably my HG foundation. It looks like actual skin! My only thing is that there isn't a colour quite olive enough for me, but it's closer than anything I've ever come across. Also, the caps keep breaking on me. Also, I love that I can apply it any way I want , so it's not like if my MAC187 is dirty I have to go through a major brush-cleaning process before putting on my makeup.

    1. That's a shame about the caps. That would do my head it! It is a gorgeous foundation on the skin x

  5. Reeeeally wanna try this, but I'm so unsure of the colour ranges- I'm 15 in Mat Velvet, but I'm really not sure of what colour I would be in this. Plus can't exactly swatch it to find out, which has always stopped me buying! xx

    1. I have a review of the Mat Velvet + coming up next week actually. I'm in between 15 and 20, slightly more towards 20 than 15 if that helps. I will try to remember to pop a comparison on swatches on the post so you can compare :-) x
