I have a problem. A foundation problem. It’s my favourite
product to buy and I have acquired too many. So I may as well put them to some
use! See I’m pasty pale. Can’t find a match in MAC foundations pale. So If you
are looking for a colour match and like me your normal shade is ‘Copier Paper’
behold, some swatches.
From left to right: MUA BB
in Light, No7 Beautiful Skin BB Cream (normal/oily version) in Fair, 17
BB Cream in Light, Maybelline Dream Fresh BB Cream in Light and Une BB Cream
Foundation in 101.
And now for the darker ones... Hissy Fit Saving Face in
Light, Stila Oil Free Sheer Colour Tinted Moisturiser in Medium 01 (I only ever
use these two to darken up other foundations if I’m fake tanned, they are way
too dark on their own!) and Witch Anti Blemish Tinted Moisturiser in 01 Light
(which looks really dark until you blend it in then it looks perfect on me?
Weird.)
Dior Forever Extre,e Wear (discontinued) in 010, Estee
Lauder Double Wear Light in Intensity 1.0, Bourjois Healthy Mix in 15 Light
Vanilla, Vichy Dermablend in 15 Opal.
Makeup Forever Mat Velvet + in shades #15 and #20, Makeup Forever
HD in #117.
And finally Bare Mineral Matte in Fair C10 and ELF Personal
Blend Foundation in Light.
Well you can see that a.) I have too much and b.) what each
brand thinks is the lightest shade possible varies a lot! I do a lot of mixing
with this lot to get the right shade!!

In winter I struggle to find something in Boots that is pale enough, and only buy Bourjois. I think Revlon ones are available in paler shades too, but I prefer the lighter coverage of the Bourjois ones.
ReplyDeleteI bought Mac Face and Body in N1 and it is pretty dark, but is working well during summer (if you can call it that this year :S)
Not everyone wants to be fake tanned, I don't know why more brands don't make paler foundations!
Hmm I do find it difficult to find decent matches. There are a few up there that are good matches but I'm shocked at how dark some of them look! I think brands need to come out with wider shade ranges in general. So many just seem to have shades for the people in the middle!
DeleteThis is why I gave up on liquid foundation, trying to find a match from this dismal selection never got me anywhere!
ReplyDeleteReally? What do you use instead? Mineral foundation? I think some of these are good matches but I agree. Most brands have far too few shades x
DeleteYep, mineral foundation. I switched mostly because you can get samples of mineral foundation, and you can't get samples of liquid really, except for those sachets in magazines which are always pale orange. You have to buy the full-size just to be able to test it properly and that really annoys me. I don't want to waste money on products that look like a good match in the shop but oxidise really badly on my skin.
DeleteThank you for this! It looks like Bourjois 51 might be a good shade for me, it's always looked too yellow when I've swatched in Boots probs cause of the lighting, and it's a tad expensive to buy and then find out it's wrong.

It is a bit yellow toned but I will say it blends out less overly yellow than it looks initially. I have pretty neutral skin and once on it's doesn't make me look yellow if that makes sense? x
DeleteHi Claire!Great review...I was wondering how do you compare the Mufe Hd in 117 with the Bourjois in 51! Are they similar? Which one is the darkest in your opinion?
ReplyDeleteThank you so much! :)
Hi Anon :) To be honest they look very close in swatches. Both lean slightly yellow, the MUFE slightly more so in my opinion. The Bourjois HM in 51 is maybe slightly darker but not by much. In terms of finish the MUFE is higher coverage and lasts much, much longer on my combination skin. Both have quite a matte texture on the skin, the MUFE more so. I hope that helps!
DeleteThank you!! The fact is that I'm constantly in search for the right foundation...I'm very fair, I use the Mufe Face&body in 38, wich is quit good but unfortunately a bit too pink!
DeleteI use also the Bourjois both the classic and the serum version, but I'd love to find a pale foundation with yellow undertones (the pale ones I tried are so damn pink!), which seems impossible here in Italy :)
Anyway, I'll try hte Hd in 117 too! Thank you again! ;)
