Guerlain Peach Boy Blush Duo

Peach Boy was something of an impulse buy for me last year. I was cornered at a Guerlain counter by a lovely sales assistant on a quiet Sunday morning. In essence she was bored and I had time to kill so she set about doing a full face of makeup on me. I was planning on purchasing a couple of items anyway for my husband to pop under the Christmas tree for me but this was not on my original list. She just decided I needed a peach/ coral blush and applied it and that was it. Sold. Clearly I need to work on my will power.

The packaging is typically gorgeous with a handy velveteen pouch protecting the gold plastic compact. Once again I find myself surprised at how lightweight the compact is. I like luxury products, and at £32.50 for 6g it’s definitely luxury to me, to have some heft to them. This does not although it feels sturdy enough. The compact has a good sized mirror and a brush applicator which I don’t personally use.

The product has the strong signature parma violets scent so if scent is a big no no for you be aware of it and sniff before you buy (I seem to find myself saying that a lot on here). Personally I like it and I find that it doesn’t really last on the skin so it’s not really a problem for me. The larger pan is a stunning hot peach coral matte, the smaller is a frosted lighter shade. It is definitely a little sparkly. Not with huge chunks of glitter, it is much more refined than that, but you can see tiny individual specks of sparkle rather than a smooth sheen. This is just built for layering and I tend to apply the matte shade then add the shimmering shade over the top on the higher planes of my cheeks skipping a highlight.

I hate to say this but whilst I love the shade, it really does brighten my face and I cannot wait to wear this in spring/ summer, I’m not in love with the formula. The matte shade is very pigmented and lasts well (about 7-8 hours on me before fading) but it can be a little stiff to blend out. I often find myself needing to go back in with my powder or foundation brush to soften the edges. The shimmery shade feels dry and stiff and lacking in pigmentation. I need to use quite a firm brush to pick up enough product to make it visible on the cheeks.

Cue dodgy face shot of product applied...

In short I like this for the colour but the formulation doesn’t have me lusting after more shades from the line. If I’m looking to try another high end blush I think I will try another brand. As much as I love Guerlain this just isn’t a highlight for me from them.

  1. It looks great! I've lurked at Guerlain and this is the one I would have picked, too.

    1. It is a gorgeous shade and I adore how it looks it's just a little bit too much like hard work to get it to blend sadly :(
