When you start accumulating ridiculous quantities of
cosmetics it’s inevitable that you will end up with a few duds lurking in your
drawers. Sometimes you’re just unlucky. It’s just not quite right for your skin
tone/ type/ personal taste. And sometimes you’ve just bought a crap product!
Below are a few products that no matter how hard I have tried with them I just
don’t like them. I’ve linked to the
original reviews, some of which are kinder than I will be about the products
than I will be today simply because as I’ve continuously been using them over a
long period of time I really have grown to hate them...
Ah Benefit Thrrrob. It doesn’t matter what brush I use or
how much I pack on I just can’t get you to show up on my cheeks. And I’m paler
than copier paper so really you should be at least somewhat visible!
I wanted the MUA BB cream to be fabulous as I have a soft
spot for the brand and the £4 price tag can’t be beaten but it’s not. I’ve
tried it over so many different primers, with so many application methods and a
huge number of different powders to set it but to no avail. It sits on top of
my skin refusing to sink in transferring onto everything I touch and general
looking obvious and cakey. Horrid.
Why did I buy the MAC Magically Cool Liquid Powder in Truth
& Light? No idea. It’s a £25.50 tub of product that I just don’t use. I
find that used as a highlight it’s so subtle that I’m not sure why I bothered. As
an all over setting powder it’s just too sparkly for my tastes. It’s just not
for me.
I’m a bit of a fussy bugger when it comes to mascara (aren’t
we all?) but these three really just were awful on me. The Rimmel Scandaleyes
has a brush the size of a tennis racquet and doesn’t do anything for my lashes.
The No7 Fanomenal Lashes gives me crappy clumped together mono lash. And I’m
pretty sure Maybelline have sold me an empty tube of mascara as when I try to
use the Illegal Lengths it just doesn’t seem like any product is ending up on
my lashes.
Of course some of these products may well be your favourite
and I’m happy if they are! They must work for someone otherwise the brands
wouldn’t still be making them. It’s just for me they do not work and I regret
parting with my pennies for them. So there. Rant over. What products do you
want to love but have ended up loathing?

I agree with you on Scandal Eyes. The rest I haven't tried and I wouldn't. Thanks for sharing :)
ReplyDeleteHope it was helpful :) Euch the Scandaleyes does nothing for me. So glad it's almost gone!
DeleteMUA eye primer! I saw so many good review on it so decided to try it as it's substantially cheaper than UDPP. It's rubbish! My eyeshadow creased after a few hours. It might be fine if your eyeshadow doesn't crease badly normally but mine disappears after 30 mins. I ended up buying UDPP in the end as my eyeshadow lasts all day with it without a single crease.
ReplyDeleteI'm also fussy with mascaras and have never liked a Rimmel or No7 one. Don't think I've tried Maybelline but I'm suspicious...
Will avoid the MUA eye primer then! It's so frustrating when you read so many good reviews on a product and it just doesn't work for you. Just goes to show how differently products work on different people!
DeleteI love the Mac liquid powder but it does dry out quickly if you remove the sticker from the sifter. I have actually used up an entire one of this, I liked it as an all over powder, I don't think it's too shimmery (for me anyway). I agree about the MUA "BB cream", it's pretty rubbish. It's so thick and horrible, I don't really know why I still have mine.
ReplyDeleteI actually thought of you when I wrote about the MAC lol. I think it depends on what finish you prefer for your base. I like a matte finish and for my highlight to be obvious. I just can't bring myself to throw my MUA BB cream away. I tend to use it on days when I'm only popping out for a couple of hours then wash it off as soon as I get home...
