Barry M Nail Paint in Magnetic Sparkle Red

Excuse the stubby nails but I’ve had to chop them all off again. It hasn’t stopped me playing with my new favourite polish though! As much as I love nail art I am too lazy and too cack handed to do it myself so I’m a big fan of polishes that do the nail art for you. Thinks like crackle polishes, glitter and of course magnetic polishes. This is Barry M Magnetic Sparkle Red. In the bottle it is a pewter taupe shade with tiny red and silver flecks running through it. It does look very pretty as it is on the nail but of course it is much more interesting when you use the magnet in the cap on it!

The giant chunky lid houses the magnet on the top with a handy strip of plastic to help stop you smooshing the magnet into the wet polish. Thankfully all of this pops off to reveal the normal Barry M handy underneath as I think this huge square thing would be very unwieldy! The formula is very easy to work with and you can easily do a thin layer or a thicker layer as necessary.

I find this works best if you paint on 1 thin layer, let it dry, and then paint on another thicker layer and using the magnet. When you get to the thicker layer do one finger at a time as you need to use the magnet on wet polish. You simply hold the magnet over the wet polish for a couple of seconds and voila. Instant nail art! The finished design looks like sparkling red and taupe chevrons. I love it!

These cost £4.99 which is £2 more expensive than that standard Barry M nail paints however you can often find the brand on offer at Boots and Superdrug. I really want to try out some more shades and each shade comes with a magnet that produces a different design. Fab!

  1. This is so gorgeous! I think it's the best magnetic polish I've seen so far. I reviewed the gold one, not sure if you've seen it, it's equally pretty. I actually have the other colours too, just haven't got around to using them yet. The gold one is here by the way: http://pleasureflush.blogspot.co.uk/2012/12/notd-barry-m-344-magnetic-gold-sparkle.html

  2. Good Post! :) I've never been a massive fan of Barry M Polish, i always find they chip easily (that's even if you can get them on without streaking!) but this looks SO pretty i might have to give it a try! I am quite clumsy though, so having a thick layer with a magnet over it might just be asking for trouble haha!
